12/23 Update

Daisy did well today at the Dr’s, she did not need to get blood.  Thank you for praying!

That’s a big relief.  Her lab report does show that her counts dropped in other areas.  She needs prayer for her white blood cell count, it went way down.  She received chemo today and that drops it further.  So, please labor with us once more for our nutty little girl, we are thankful to have you all to do this with.

We love you!

12/20 Update

Hi friends and prayer warriors.  Daisy has need of prayer for a couple of things.  First, though, I want to say how thankful to God I am that her blood counts are great again this week.  Mostly.  The more critical elements of her blood are good, white blood cells, platelets, but her hemoglobin is low again.  If it drops again, she will receive a blood transfusion on Wednesday.  We would really prefer not to!  There are always risks involved, and to be honest, it totally grosses me out!

Secondly, Daisy has been running a low fever since Wednesday afternoon.  Because her blood is good right now, it’s not a huge cause to freak out, but she definitely needs to get better by Monday.  We’re keeping a very close eye on her, and every sneeze reminds me that even though she looks good and is silly and curious and crazy, she is also receiving Chemo therapy.  Sickness and Chemo don’t make a cute couple.  I’m also incredibly thermometer happy.  Our doctor even teases me about it…  We have one of those amazing forehead scanners, and I’ve gone through two 9Volt batteries in two months!  Please pray that her fever goes completely away and her virus disappears.  We have a little family getaway planned for monday morning, and we can’t do that if she is not well.  Thanks dear friends, we are so appreciative for the support and prayers of all of you.

Romans 5:3-5
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.  And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.  And this hope will not lead to disappointment, for we know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

12/14 Update

Great news!!!  Isaiah is feeling super good, making car explosion noises, playing hotwheels, and crawling around on the floor.  He just flew a lego ship by (with sound effects) and is now pretending to beat his sister over the head with a hotwheels track as she comes out of the bathroom.  I think he’s better!!!   Daisy had been jubilantly singing a made up song in the bathroom with her teeny voice.  So, thanks for praying, I was prepared to make a party in the hospital, but it looks like we can keep our party at home.  Thank you friends, thank you Lord, lots of love!

Matthew 10:29-31
“What is the price of two sparrows - one copper coin?  But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.  And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.  So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”

12/13 Update

Hi everyone!  We’ve had a great week.  Daisy’s feeling great, getting braver by the day. We’re enjoying our preparations for Christmas and loving our family time.

This afternoon we went to the Cottage Hospital Pediatric Oncology party and it was a rager! There were hundreds of people there.  Daisy got to see her doctor and nurses whom she loves so much, and they were grateful to not make her cry this time. They really are amazing people, and I’m convinced it really takes special grace and love to be a pediatric nurse, not to mention in oncology!  They had Santa and Mrs. Claus giving out gifts, they were the sweetest people who volunteer at the hospital.  Each child had a toy wrapped and age appropriate with his or her name on it!  It was really cool.  Daisy’s couldn’t have been more perfect.

I (this is Kate) really have to say this is the best year of our lives.  Our sweet times are that much sweeter, our hearts are that much softer.  We are so thankful for each other, for shelter, for food, for loved ones.  We’re thankful for great medical care, for our gorgeous town, for every second we get to spend together.  Most of all, we’re thankful to be in God’s hands.  They’re steady and strong, and I can truly say I feel like He’s carrying all our burdens.  Like Daisy says (a la Nacho Libre) “my life is goooood.  real gooood.”

So, speaking of burdens, I have another I would appreciating you all lifting up with me. Isaiah currently has a 102* fever and is sneezing and blowing his nose.  Not a big deal but please pray Daisy is spared from this round of cooties as well, because spending more time in the hospital isn’t on my wish list!! Thanks everyone, we love you lots!

P.S.  Only 2 more weekly Chemo treatments then she can go to every third week!  (hey, every cloud has a silver lining!)
