9/30 6:58PM Rash gets worse..

Daisy’s rash is getting worse.  It has become quite unbearably sore and itchy.  The rash is an allergic reaction the doctors have not been able to identify and Daisy will not be able to go home until they sort it out.  Please continue to pray.

Continue to pray also for the PET-CT scan results determining whether the cancer has spread due sometime tomorrow.

9/30 10:35AM Cancer Staging

Daisy is scheduled for a PET-CT scan at 1PM today which will indicate whether the cancer has spread to the blood and other parts of Daisy’s body.  Please pray:

  • The cancer has not spread
  • Specifically that the cancer has not progressed past Stage 3 and also that the histology is favorable which allows chemo to be more effective

See the Wilm’s Tumor Medical Info link to the right for detailed information.

9/30 9:45AM Prayer Request

Daisy has a bad rash that’s beginning to cover her torso.  It is very uncomfortable.  Please pray that the inflammation and itching would subside and the rash would completely clear up!

9/29 8:39PM When I grow up...

Awhile back when Daisy was asked what she wanted to be when she grows up, she replied “I’m leaning toward astronaut, but maybe warrior for the Lord.”

9/29 1:39PM The Lord is my strength..

Britt and Kate met with the Oncologist and got the details of the pathology report. Here are the basics:

  • It is confirmed that Daisy had a Wilm’s Tumor (now removed)
  • The tumor had spilled cancerous cells into her body
  • Daisy’s cancer is Stage 3 and has infected the lymph nodes
  • She will have a PET-CT Scan tomorrow that will determine how much the cancer has spread in her body and whether or not the cancer is stage 4, which means it has infected the blood stream and so may have affected the bones and lungs, etc.
  • Daisy will start radiation and chemotherapy some time next week
  • The histology (study of the microscopic anatomy of cells) is said to be favorable at this point, but is yet to be confirmed as such
  • We will find out in a week or two whether or not her cancer is a more aggressive form of Wilm’s that will require a little more aggressive treatment

Psalm 28:7

The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
My heart leaps for joy
and I will give thanks to him in song.

9/29 8:09AM Toots!!

At 2:30AM this morning Daisy tooted!  Praise the Lord!! Since Daisy’s intestines are working again they have her on clear liquids.  Here are a couple milestones you can pray for:

  1. The goal is to reduce Daisy’s pain medication down to Tylenol today.
  2. At 11AM Britt and Kate will be meeting with the oncologist who will have the pathology results. Pray for peace that passes understanding no matter the results!

Thank you!!

9/28 6:49PM Still no movement

Quick update for purposes of prayer:

  • We did not get pathology results today
  • Still no movement in Daisy’s intestines so no liquids yet, let alone food
  • We are hoping Daisy gets to go home in the next few days but that won’t happen until she is eating

9/28 9:29AM Gas pain

Even though Daisy was able to poop yesterday, her intestines have still not fully awakened. She was up most of the night in pain from gas that was not able to release. She has been up and walking today reluctantly.  Please continue to pray for full function of her intestines and that Daisy would be willing to walk enough to help move things along.

9/27 8:54PM Itchy

Daisy has very sensitive skin and has an allergic reaction to all the tape used for IVs and bandages.  She is very itchy and is having trouble not scratching.  Please pray this evening for the itchiness to subside.

9/27 7:18PM Daisy took a short walk!

The praises keep coming!  We were able to get Daisy to take a short walk down the hall (about 20 ft to see the fish in the aquarium).  Moving around a bit will help her system get back to normal as quickly as possible.  However, she is still not able to eat or have any liquid.  Please pray:

  • Daisy would be able to have at least clear liquid by tomorrow
  • Daisy would persevere while waiting to eat
  • Daisy is still on high doses of pain medication.  Continue to pray for reduced pain.
  • for good spirits for Britt and Kate as they take turns spending the night in the hospital

9/26 10:37AM Hemoglobin & Bowels

Daisy’s hemoglobin is low so they are giving her another blood transfusion.  She really needs to start moving for both bowel function and overall healing.  She is still reluctant because of the high pain level.

The Long Road...

Britt, Kate, and everyone involved would like to thank you for praying so fervently for Daisy.  It has been amazing to see God working!  You have played an important part in that.  We are humbled and encouraged by so many praying around the world.

We’d like to ask that you continue to pray and intercede for sweet Daisy Love.  While the results of surgery are a tremendous praise, recovery is and will be a daily battle.  Cancer treatment will be long and arduous.  While Britt and Kate are still awaiting pathology reports, they are looking ahead at 7 months of chemotherapy and possibly radiation treatments for Daisy.

We’d love for you to continue to pray with us on this long road.

Pray at all times and not lose heart.  ~Jesus
