This is the horse poop cake we made for Daisy’s 8th birthday. We realized that on her actual birthday (June 23rd) she will either be neutropenic or getting her stem cells collected so we had an impromptu party with BB gun shooting, horse crafts, and a tent made of sheets under a tree for little girls to eat their burgers in.

We are grateful for another year with the coolest girl I know. Even through the yuck of cancer and the clouds that shroud so many of our days we realize that we have been blessed. In a world where not all can have access to medical care, not all can stay home to care for their little ones, not all can get needed medicine, nor eat freely, nor drink clean water. Not even all can enjoy freedom… We choose to thank God for the piles of blessings He has already given us, not pine for the way we wish things were. There is a lot of love to be thankful for. We won’t be robbed of joy.

Our favorite poem:

Just these two words He spoke

Changed my life,

“Enjoy Me.”

What a burden I thought I was to carry-

A crucifix, as did He.

Love once said to me, “I know a song,

Would you like to hear it?”

And laughter came from every brick in the street

And from every pore
In the sky.

After a night of prayer, He

Changed my life when

He sang,

“Enjoy Me”
