These braids are from Daisy’s first haircut, when she was losing hair during her first round of cancer. We kept them and a couple of weeks ago Daisy found them and clipped them into her hat!
She is so strong, often when we are weak. Today I (Kate) am feeling weak. This road is long, at times unbearable. I am praying for my girl to have a break with all this, but as it turns out we have to drive to UCLA again Monday to re-draw an enormous amount of blood (again). Two-plus hours there, siphon my daughter’s much needed lifeblood, then two-plus hours home through LA freeways doesn’t seem like the way to spend a day after enduring a week in the hospital. Yes, we have been through much worse and yes, we will make it through but sometimes you just want to plop down and cry and wish it would all just go away…
Today I am identifying with Naomi, David, Jeremiah, Job, and all who have just plopped down and cried. And that’s ok. It’s part of being human, and thankfully my hope doesn’t lie in circumstances. I know what to do…

Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives power to the weak
And strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
And young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength,
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary,
They will walk and not faint.
